I was completely caught off guard to learn a day ago that Beck added a second show in Athens at the Georgia Theatre. I was even more caught of guard when I got a called from Patrick of The Winter Sounds telling me that he was on the list for the show, and one of the guys who was going to go didn’t want to anymore so I could go!!!!!!!! I have been a Beck fan for a long time [1995 I guess] but never had the chance to see him live. I was so excited, I grabbed my camera and headed to the Georgia Theatre. I ended up right next to the soundboard in front of a railing right by the stairs to get onto the main floor so I had nobody in front of me which was also when trying to take photos.

The Set was great, mostly the singles (and probably future singles) off Guero and the past singles from previous albums with some oldies mixed in there. I was quite pleased with the setlist, only thing it missed was Jack-ass and Deadweight. One thing I was really looking forward to was watching Beck dance, but for some reason there was no dancing tonight. The stage setup had the band in the front with puppeteers behind them controlling puppets versions of the band members as video of the puppets were projected onto the big screen over the stage. The puppets would mimic the band members every move, my hat is off to the puppeteers, they were awesome.

Something happened tonight that had never happened at a previous concert, doing the middle of the show a girl pushed her way beside me and started talking during the show to someone else. Then she started talking to me and asking if I was a professional photographer and that I should take photos of a show and sell them. Even after telling her I do it for fun and that I have intention of selling any photos I took of the show she went into this big “holier then thou” fan spill that made no since. “I was here at 7:30am ” I was like so? want a cookie? I guess she figured I was there just to take photos and didn’t care about Beck. She also was saying how she lived in Athens since she was five and that I need to live small towns alone.. I really have no idea what she was really talking about or what point she was making was, but I basically told her to shut up and quit talking to me while I am trying to enjoy the show. I really wanted to throw her over the rail down on the gear boxes on the floor. The nerve of some people.
