I have been pretty busy lately, where to start… I had a few interviews, one with the Board of Regents in Athens, and another with UGA in the Departmental Financial Systems. I felt really good about both interviews and look like I will be getting a job offer soon from the Board of Regents. I was asked to come in for a casual visit last week and was told he wanted to put in a request for hire and asked if there was any reason for him not to do so in which case I said, “of course not”. I should get an offer within a few weeks after they complete the background check. I received a rejection letter from the other job so the situation solved itself. I am excited to finally start a career, and the job itself doesn’t sound hard. I would be required to be on call for one week a month, but that shouldn’t be a big deal once I get used to it and it also helps that I get a laptop with a cell phone wifi card, and a cell phone so I don’t actually have to go to the office to do work.
On a said note, two weeks ago my supervisor Art Sturgill passed away due to a heart attack. It was totally unexpected, and really shocking considering his very healthy lifestyle. He was very health conscious, and excerised a few times a week as well as being a vegetarian. I was really sad because he was a really nice and caring guy and did everything he could for others. He also lived life to the fullest and always had things going on to keep himself occupied with. He was cremated, but his funeral service will be held November 18th here in Athens.
Lately I’ve had a few local band ask me about taking press photos for them. One of which is the band Russian Spy Camera, and on Saturday I went and hung with the guys and took some photos which I think they turned out pretty good considering we were sort of rushed. Afterwards we went to one of the band members houses and played Guitar Hero and had some drinks until 5am. It was a total blast. Photos coming soon.
Tonight I am going to the We Versus the Shark costume party concert at the Secret Squirrel in which they are filming for a DVD that will go with their new EP. I am going to dress in a chicken suit which should be fun, but I will probably be hot as hell in it. I am not sure how I am going to take photos in a chicken suit, but I will figure something out. Tomorrow night I am going to go see The Secret Machines in Atlanta for Halloween and MIGHT go see Cinemechanica play at the Secret Squirrel here in Athens. I might be too tired though, but we will see.
