The Georgia Theatre in Athens, GA caught fire at approximately 7:00am this morning, and is still burning as of this post. I have seen many great concerts here including Beck, Buckethead, Tony Clifton, and local acts, and was a gem in downtown Athens. Luckily they have insurance so it will eventually be rebuilt, but it will surely take a long time. Read more about it by clicking on the following links:

One Response to “Georgia Theatre catches fire (RIP, for now)”

My heart broke when I read Josh Becker’s post on Facebook this morning. It was shocking to read that the Georgia Theater was engulfed in flames. I saw Vassar Clements and also the Dixie Dregs there on 1977 and 1978. A historic venue that will truly be missed.
