Nashville band The Features recently were asked by a major company and their label to record a Beatles cover song to be used in a commerical. Their label (Universal) also wanted to put this cover song on their new record they are set to start recording on in a week. After thinking it over the band rejected the request to do the cover and knowing it would bring consequences were droppped by their label. They still plan on recording their new album with or without a label, but afterwards will seek a label to relase their new album. I really hate that they got dropped, but it’s about damn time a band stood up to big labels and coporate america who want nothing but to make themselves money and care nothing about the music. The Features are a good band and will no doubt find another label, but I hope this will make major labels and corporations know they can’t always boss bands around.
